Who is Jesus to you?
Mark 8:27 Now Jesus and His disciples went out to the towns of Caesarea Philippi; and on the road He asked His disciples, saying to them, “Who do men say that I am?”
Jesus today is different to different people.
The question is who do you say that I am (Matt. 16:15). In other words, who is Jesus to you?
The angel of the Lord said He will save His people from their sins. Matt 1:21-23 “And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.””
22 “So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying:”23 ““Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.””
Do you know Jesus for what He can do for you - as your Savior (forgives sin - save you from sin, as your provider, your healer etc). Or have you moved beyond these to know Him as your Lord?
As believers, we must transition from a s1aving faith (save me out of this or that) to the faith relationship (Phil 3:10 - that I might know Him), to walk by faith like our father Abraham who became a friend of God).
Jesus is not only a Saviour per se, but a Messiah, Master, Lord and everlasting Father - (Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace).
He is the great I AM. Do you really know JESUS as LORD? (Mighty God - the One who owns everything).
We must transition from the child that is born (Christmas celebration) to the Son that is given.
The child (so to speak) does not know anything about the father but the Son does.
Are you a son or a child?
Now, the word Christ is not a name; it is a title. It is the Greek word chrīstós (meaning “Messiah”). And the word Messiah in Hebrew means the anointed one, and the word Christ in Greek means the anointed one. Now, it was customary in those days before a king was crowned to anoint that king with oil. The oil is poured over his head in an anointing ceremony by which he was recognized and acknowledged as the king. So, Jesus, using the title Christ or Messiah signifies that He was anointed by God to be the King. And they were looking for that King who is anointed by God to come. "Thou art the Messiah, the Christ the Son of The Living God."
Christmas is a time to test and know the level of your relationship with Christ the Lord as the anointed One or as your Savior.
The first place to start is to know Jesus as your personal Saviour before you can know Him as your Lord. Not doing this, moves you into that category of those who are commercializing Christmas. I pray that will not be your portion. ·
Jesus is the reason for Christmas.
Don’t lose sight of Jesus Christ in your Christmas celebration. Have a blessed Christmas celebration where Jesus is your Lord and King.
