Taking the message back to the marketplace
Luke 2:20 Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told them.
The shepherd heard, they saw and they returned back, glorifying and praising God.
The shepherd received a visitation from the angel who announced to them the birth of Jesus – the Saviour of the world – what a glorious visitation! This vision was not given to one shepherd but to a group of shepherds (the Church — added for emphasis V8-14). They all came and found the baby Jesus just as they were told.
Quite often we receive a revelation, come to Church, testify about the vision, the Church is edified, go home thus comes to end our encounter. The shepherd has a lot to teach us from their experience.
After their encounter with the angels, they went immediately to see Mary and the Child Jesus and then returned to their profession - the Bible said, “Glorifying and praising God”.
After our Christmas celebrations in our Churches, homes and holidays, we must go back to our factories, offices, professions, marketplaces etc, we must testify to others what we have heard and seen – v20.
Praising and glorifying Christ is not restrictive to the Church but must continue beyond the church. Telling others about Christ and His Church should be done in the marketplace.
As you go back to your profession in the marketplace, remember that God is waiting to be glorified through you.
You are the Jesus in the flesh that the world want to see
My prayer for you is that the offence of silence will no longer be part of your lifestyle but must be bold to testify about all what Jesus has done for you and want to do the same for others.
There are many out there waiting to hear your story: How Jesus made your story to be His-Story”.
The shepherds returned (went back to their profession or marketplace – shepherding their flock). They did not just go back to their old routine but could not stop testifying and praising God for all the things that they heard and seen, as was told them.
You also have a lot to offer those who will ask you: “How was your holiday? You also have a lot to offer those who will ask you “What you did on Christmas Day?
1 Peter 3:15 “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;”
2019 will be a great opportunity to testify about what you have “heard and seen”.
In 2019, whenever you find yourself in the marketplace, may the offence of silence not be found in you. Amen.
2019 will be a blessed and fruitful Year for you and your family as you embark on allowing God’s Kingdom to flow through you.
Be Blessed— Your friend, Tony Ojamiren
